Adjusts hours at two local offices to better meet needs of customers 

Erie County, NY – Erie County Clerk Michael P. Kearns announced that the hours of operation at two county-run Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) locations will be modified in an effort to meet the needs of Auto Bureau clientele in the Northtowns.

Beginning Saturday, February 4, the Auto Bureau branch located inside the Eastern Hills Mall will now operate Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. In addition, the Tonawanda branch, located in the Sheridan Plaza, will remain open Monday- Friday, 7 a.m.- 5 p.m. and will now be closed on Saturdays.

The restructuring of hours will add an additional 4 hours in the evenings and an additional 4 hours on Saturdays at Eastern Hills Mall, giving motorists and those looking to obtain government identification additional opportunities throughout the entire week to visit their local Auto Bureau.

“In an effort to remain fiscally responsible, my office continues to be flexible and modify our operations in order to meet the needs of our customers by making accessibility to our services a priority,” stated Kearns. “We continue to find ways to keep New York State fees local all while making it easy for motorists to “Renew Local” when renewing their vehicle registrations and driver’s licenses through the Erie County Auto Bureau.

Through “Renew Local” efforts and other revenues generated in 2021 by the Erie County Clerk’s Office, Kearns provided $6.5 million dollars in surplus revenues to the County’s general fund that go towards important projects and services that are vital to our community.
