Fully vaccinated individuals not required to wear masks at County Clerk’s offices

Erie County, NY - Today Erie County Clerk, Michael P. Kearns, announced effective immediately, the offices operated by the Erie County Clerk will no longer strictly enforce a face-covering requirement. Fully vaccinated individuals will not be required to wear a mask when conducting business in an Erie County Clerk operated office. Unvaccinated individuals must wear a mask.

The County Clerk also recommends that the public be mindful in those areas which are not an office operated by the Erie County Clerk, such as common areas in Old County Hall and the Rath Building, as the mask requirement may still be enforced.

“As we recognize the progress in the fight against COVID-19 it is important that we also prioritize returning to ‘business as usual,” stated Kearns. “After meeting vaccination milestones, it is time for the County Clerk’s Office to shift its policies to harmonize with guidance for fully vaccinated individuals set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and the State of New York.”
