Clerk’s Outreach Center will now have evening hours every Thursday

Erie County, NY – Erie County Clerk Michael P. Kearns announced that his Outreach Center, located at 1088 Union Road in West Seneca will be open every Thursday from 9:00am-7:00pm, in an effort designed to assist the traveling public obtain a U.S. passport. This community service is for first-time passport applicants only. Additionally, staff is on hand throughout the week to answer any questions or provide guidance with any other matters related to the Erie County Clerk’s office. 

“This is a chance for people who have been waiting to get a passport to come out and apply for one,” said Kearns. “It can be difficult to take time off work or inconvenient for people to come downtown and this is a terrific opportunity to better serve those in the community. My office is pleased to make these extended hours available.” 

Applicants will be able to apply for a passport card, passport book or both. Payment must be in the form of check or money order. No cash or credit cards will be accepted.  A certified copy of a birth certificate and proof of identity such as a current New York State driver’s license or valid non-driver identification card is required in order for any application to be accepted. Passport photos can be taken on-site and are available for $10. Currently, the processing times for routine passports are approximately 6-9 weeks and expedited passports, which take up to five weeks, and costs an extra $60 to process. 

Current passport holders with less than 6 months validity remaining are encouraged to follow the instructions on how to renew their passport by mail at travel.state.gov/passports. NOTE: Hours for the Clerk's Outreach Center are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday: 9:00am- 5:00pm and Thursday: 9:00am-7:00pm. No appointment required.
