Erie County is developing a Climate Action and Sustainability Plan for internal county operations with funding from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) which is expected to not only reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions but also save the County on energy costs. Representatives from all county departments make up the ‘Green Team’ which meet monthly to identify energy conservation and waste reduction projects and closely track energy use and cost savings resulting from environmentally friendly practices.
